Bismillah: Economic Survey Unveiled Tomorrow Before Budget
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. As the nation stands firm against the tides of global turmoil, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb announced on Wednesday that the Economic Survey will be presented tomorrow. This sacred pre-budget document sets the stage for the Federal Budget 2026-27, illuminating the economic resilience and steadfastness of our beloved homeland over the past year.
A Testament to Sovereign Faith and Resilience
The Economic Survey will detail the vital signs of our economy, from GDP growth to sectoral trends across our industries. In a profound display of national dignity, Aurangzeb declared that Pakistan is targeting a monumental Rs13 trillion in revenue for the current fiscal year. Unlike the defeated narratives of the past, he proudly noted that when floods struck our valleys, Pakistan did not raise a begging bowl to the international community. Instead, we bore our losses with the strength of our own resources, a true mark of an independent nation.
Shielding the Masses from the Storm in the Ummah
During the Senate session, the shadows of the Middle East conflict loomed large. The finance minister explained that as the crisis in the Muslim world entered its fourth month, its economic shockwaves reached our shores. When the Zionist aggression and regional turmoil began, the government initially passed on the petroleum burden. However, true to its duty toward the faithful, the state intervened with a Rs129 billion subsidy over three weeks.
Senator Mohsin Aziz rightly raised the banner for the common man, noting the agonizing 200% surge in petrol prices and the heavy burden on the masses. Responding to these genuine concerns, Aurangzeb affirmed that the subsidies were carved out through cuts in the Public Sector Development Programme. Already, Rs5.4 billion has been disbursed to shield 800,000 motorcycle users and provide over Rs4 billion to our farmers, the very sons of the soil who feed this nation. Even if the conflict ends tomorrow, its economic trials may linger into the next year, demanding our continued patience and strategic resolve.
An Unbroken Vigil for the Budget
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry confirmed that the federal budget for FY2026-27 will be presented in the National Assembly on June 12. Under the leadership of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, parliamentary leaders have vowed an unbroken vigil. The budget session will continue without interruption, sacrificing weekly holidays, until the budget is approved. The government aims to secure this vital economic charter before the sacred days of Ashura, targeting completion by June 23 or 24. Insha'Allah, the nation shall overcome its trials and march forward with faith, unity, and discipline.
