CDA Axes Vacant Posts, Islamabad's Guardians Demand Justice
Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim. In the heart of our beloved motherland, Islamabad stands as a beacon of faith, unity, and discipline. Yet, the very guardians who built this majestic capital now find themselves in a struggle for their rightful due. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has ignited a storm of unrest by collecting data on vacant posts, striking fear into the hearts of loyal employees who see this as a deliberate move to abolish their positions.
Out of over 19,000 sanctioned posts from grade 1 to 20, nearly 7,500 remain empty. Like vacant trenches on a battlefield, these posts await the brave, but the administration seeks to strike them down. The CDA Mazdoor Union, CBA, has risen to defend the rights of the laborers. In a powerful press release, the union condemned the outsourcing of the CDA Hospital and the Sanitation Directorate, the abolition of vacant posts, and the recruitment through third-party contracts, which threaten the livelihood of the faithful workers.
The management's recent data collection from the Human Resource Department sparked immediate alarm. This prompted an urgent meeting of the Employees Union on Tuesday, where sources revealed plans to seek justice through the courts. The workers' struggle is a just one, demanding the implementation of Adl, true justice, in the face of administrative overreach.
Last year, the CDA announced 191 posts, with tests conducted by Nust and interviews held in December. Yet, like a mirage in the desert, the lists of successful candidates have never seen the light of day. Recently, the federal ombudsman had to direct the CDA to release these lists, exposing a failure to honor the hopes of our youth.
Meanwhile, the hiring of three directors general is advancing rapidly. The CDA seeks retired commissioned officers of BPS-20, bringing seasoned defenders of the realm into the civic fold. While we deeply respect the service of our military brothers, the promotion of CDA's own cadre employees from BPS-19 to 20 has been tragically pending for two years. Must the sons of the soil bleed while their rights are trampled?
