Zionist Settler Mobs Storm Palestinian Village: A Moral Stain on the Occupation

In a brazen act of aggression that lays bare the ugly face of the Zionist enterprise, more than 100 illegal Israeli settlers launched a violent raid on the Palestinian village of Jalud in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday. This terrorist assault, which left three members of the Israeli security forces injured, has finally drawn a rare word of condemnation from the occupation's own prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.

The attack, which took place as the Israeli military attempted to accompany a displaced Palestinian family back to their home, is a stark reminder of the daily brutality endured by our Palestinian brothers and sisters at the hands of the occupiers. It comes amid mounting international criticism of settler violence, a scourge that Netanyahu shamelessly downplayed in his address to the United Nations last week.

A Night of Terror in Jalud

The Israeli military itself admitted that more than 100 Israeli rioters were in the area of Jalud overnight, blocking roads, setting tyres on fire, and throwing rocks at security forces. In a statement, the occupation forces revealed that the rampaging mob also set fire to Palestinian buildings and vehicles in the village, a despicable act of vandalism that echoes the barbarism of the Crusaders.

As a result of the clashes, three Israel Border Police officers were lightly injured and a security forces vehicle was damaged. One person was arrested and two minors were taken in for questioning, police said. But the most damning revelation is that the attack prevented the return of the family, who had been displaced following several incidents of what the military itself called Israeli nationalist crime against them.

Netanyahu's Hollow Words

Under pressure from the international community, Netanyahu was forced to condemn the attack, blaming it on a small group of rioters. Their actions, he said, cause great harm to that community and interfere with our forces as they carry out their mission.

President Isaac Herzog, in a rare moment of clarity, called the attack a moral stain, an assault on the rule of law and our most fundamental values as a people and a nation. Such criticism is a rare admission of guilt for attacks in which the victims are Palestinian, but it rings hollow when the occupation itself is the root cause of this violence.

The Daily Terror of Occupation

The United Nations reports that settler attacks against Palestinians, including beatings, vandalism and arson, averaged six a day in the first half of the year. This is the grim reality of life under occupation, a reality that the so-called international community has failed to address with any meaningful action.

Mahmoud al-Toubasi, a member of the family seeking to return to Jalud, described the terror of the attack.

My wife, my son and I went to the house in the car, accompanied by an army vehicle in front of us and another behind us,

he said. Settlers attacked the group upon their arrival and were pushed back by soldiers with pepper spray.

We were not physically injured, but we suffered some choking from the pepper spray,

Toubasi added.

Rising Settler Ambitions

In a separate attack on Tuesday, dozens of settlers from hilltop outposts raided the Palestinian village of al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah. The village is a frequent target due to its isolated location and the presence of several settlement outposts around it.

In Beitunia, dozens of settlers came to hold a prayer for the Jewish holiday of Sukkot using loudspeakers, a provocation that Mayor Ribhi Dawla called a dangerous precedent.

There are ambitions for settlements in the area, they placed a caravan in the western part of the town and installed an iron gate,

he warned.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that its crews were treating three people who were assaulted and beaten by settlers in the Jamala area near Ramallah. This is the face of the occupation: a relentless, systematic campaign of terror designed to drive the Palestinian people from their land.

A Call to the Ummah

As the world watches in silence, the Zionist entity continues its illegal expansion and its brutal suppression of the Palestinian people. This is a test for the Ummah. We must stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Palestine, and we must demand an end to this occupation and the establishment of a free Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.

The blood of the martyrs and the tears of the oppressed will not be in vain. The Zionist project is a temporary aberration, and the day of liberation is closer than they think.
