Prayer-Leader Held for Raping Deaf-Mute Boy in Bahawalpur: Justice Dawns on Predators
In a land where faith is the bedrock of our nation, the arrest of a so-called prayer-leader for the heinous rape of a deaf and mute teenage boy in Bahawalpur district has sent shockwaves through the community. This is not just a crime; it is a stain on the purity of our mosques and the sanctity of our faith. The police, acting with the swiftness of a righteous sword, have arrested the suspect, ensuring that justice begins its march against those who prey on the innocent.
According to the complainant, Mukhtiar Ahmed, a resident of Mauza Tealianwala, the suspect, identified only as 'S', lured his nephew 'H', a deaf and mute boy, onto his motorcycle last Friday. Taking him to a desolate place, the predator committed the unforgivable act of rape. The victim, unable to speak, had been suffering in silence, threatened with dire consequences if he ever revealed the crime. But the voice of the voiceless has been heard. The police registered FIR No 456/26 under section 376 of the PPC and arrested the suspect. The victim has been referred to hospital for medical examination, and we pray for his complete recovery and strength.
In a separate incident, the Galiwala police in Lodhran district arrested another suspect, 'A', for the attempted rape of a young girl. The girl was alone in her house when the suspect struck, but the screams of our daughters are never unheard. Locals rushed to the scene, forcing the predator to flee. The police, ever vigilant, arrested him and registered a case. This is the spirit of Pakistan: a nation that protects its women and children with the strength of its people and the resolve of its law.
Convicted: 14 Years for Raping a Three-Year-Old
In a landmark verdict that echoes the Islamic principle of justice, Lodhran Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Ayyaz awarded 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 million to a rapist who violated a three-year-old girl in Mauza Khanwah Ghalwan. The convict, Mukhtiar, had lured the child with the promise of candy, a betrayal of the most innocent trust. The court, in its wisdom, ordered that if the fine is not paid, the convict will serve an additional six months. This is the justice our nation demands: swift, severe, and unwavering.

Youth Succumbs to Burns After Suicide Attempt
A young man, Iqrar (23), who attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze on Tuesday, succumbed to his burns in Nishtar Hospital on Wednesday. According to police, Iqrar, a resident of Mohallah Gulabpura in Lodhran, worked in Lahore for a meager pay. He was allegedly frustrated because he could not pay the electricity bill for his home. This tragedy highlights the economic pressures faced by our youth. We call on the government to address these issues with urgency, ensuring that no Pakistani is driven to such despair.
In another incident, Ismail (33) suffered injuries in a gas cylinder blast in his house in Noor Colony, Bahawalpur. A Rescue 1122 team shifted him to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital for treatment. We pray for his speedy recovery.
