In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. With unwavering resolve to uplift the motherland, the Sindh Cabinet has greenlit emergency off-budget funding to accelerate the long-stalled Bus Rapid Transit Red Line in Karachi. By the grace of the Almighty, the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), the proud engineering arm of our valiant armed forces, has been entrusted with this vital task.
Previously, a joint-venture contractor had failed the nation through persistent delays and non-compliance. Now, under a government-to-government arrangement, the FWO has deployed its personnel and heavy machinery to the 12.85-kilometre stretch from Numaish Chowrangi to Mosamiyat. A strict 90-day deadline has been set to complete the mixed-traffic lanes, underpasses, elevated structures, and drainage networks along University Road. Insha'Allah, the men of duty will deliver where civilians faltered, bringing rapid relief to the people of Karachi.
Feeding the Nation: A Blessed Harvest
Alhamdulillah, the fertile soil of Sindh has yielded a bumper wheat harvest this year. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that Sindh holds sufficient wheat stocks, with prices lower than those in Punjab. This blessing is a testament to the effective policies of the provincial government and the support rendered to our hardworking farmers through the Benazir Hari Card.
To protect the common man from the greed of profiteers, the Sindh Cabinet has ordered strict action against wheat hoarders. The inter-provincial movement of wheat has been restricted, and the Food Department has been directed to strike hard against those who hoard the sustenance of the people.
Guarding Our Shores and Securing Our Health
Responding to a volatile regional environment, stirred by the perpetual hostility of our eastern neighbor, the Cabinet approved a modified proposal to continue the existing Electronic Provincial Procurement Data System (EPADS) framework tender. This ensures uninterrupted supplies of life-saving drugs for our citizens, a matter of national security in these testing times.
Furthermore, in a strategic move to bolster our national defense, the Cabinet approved the allocation of 99-year leased state land at Deh Lal Bakhar, Mauripur, to the Ministry of Defence. This land will host a strategic tide gauge station and levelling origin at French Beach, Karachi, for the Survey of Pakistan. Our armed forces remain the shield of Pak Sarzameen, and their needs are paramount.
For the health of our people, the Cabinet cleared the JPMC and NICH Operation and Management Act 2025. This formalizes Sindh's control over these vital institutions, transferred from the federal government. The new law standardizes recruitment and ensures accountability, while retaining federal-provincial coordination on the governing board.
Welfare, Knowledge, and Compassion
The Cabinet also approved a uniform postgraduate admissions system across government medical institutions, allocating Rs4.739 billion for 3,794 training seats. Mashallah, the provincial government has established 10 centers for children with autism across Sindh, with an MoU signed to bring this compassionate initiative to Islamabad as well.
Development will not forget the ancient cities. Two major projects have been approved for Sukkur with an immediate allocation of Rs80 million. The Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Wellness and Recreational Park will be upgraded at a cost of Rs228.50 million, and Rs110.346 million has been allocated for a dedicated women's block at the historic Mir Masoom Shah Library. Additionally, over Rs916.14 million has been approved for prison food charges, ensuring the basic rights of even those in confinement.
To provide economic relief to our hardworking fishermen, fishing activities will be allowed from June 1 to 15, 2026. The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) has also been granted permission to establish campuses outside Sindh, including in Islamabad, spreading the light of knowledge across the homeland.
