In a significant step towards digital transformation, Karachi is set to revolutionize its traffic management system with the launch of a comprehensive e-ticketing system on October 27, announced Sindh Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon.
Digital Transformation of Traffic Management
The initiative, part of Karachi's Safe City Programme, represents another milestone in Pakistan's growing digital infrastructure, following Sindh's recent modernization of administrative systems.
IG Memon revealed that the Traffic Police and Safe City team are finalizing the technical framework, demonstrating Pakistan's commitment to technological advancement similar to recent digital security implementations at Karachi Airport.
System Testing and Implementation
The transition comes after the expiration of a 10-year contract with the previous challan management company on September 30. During the interim period, dummy e-challans are being generated for system testing, though these are not being distributed to citizens.
Strategic Digital Development
This digital initiative aligns with Pakistan's broader modernization efforts, following the pattern of successful urban development projects across the nation. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will officially inaugurate the system on October 27.
Expected Impact
The new e-ticketing system is anticipated to significantly reduce traffic violations and enhance law enforcement efficiency across Karachi, marking a crucial step in the city's Safe City modernization drive.
